Alex Hopmann
Alex has over 20 years of commercial software development experience. In the past 15 years he has been involved in developing many key aspects of the Internet including HTTP, MHTML, WebDAV, PICS, and AJAX. Alex has built large applications from the ground up, started companies, managed teams at Microsoft and been involved in both program management and developer roles. In the late 90s, Alex lead the team that both built some of the key components that are now called AJAX as well as the first AJAX application, Outlook Web Access 2000 (see more details on the history of Ajax and XmlHttp). More recently, he was a core member of the Avalon/WPF team. Alex has a BA in Computer Science and Physics from Cornell University.
Peyman Oreizy
Peyman has over 18 years of commercial software development experience. Most recently, he spent 4 years in Microsoft Windows’ group building scalable web services and next generation UI applications in WPF, WCF, and other .NET technologies. Before that, he worked on web servers for embedded devices and search engine crawling and indexing technologies. In 1999, he co-founded KnowNow and pioneered some of the first “two-way Web” services. Now called “Comet”, these techniques are used Google’s Gmail and Jotspot’s JotLive services to instantly push updates to web browsers. Peyman has a MS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
